« At the age of 18, Frida Kahlo was seriously injured in a bus accident. Bedridden, corset, she paints. When I was 6 years old, I too was in an accident. I was in a coma for a month and traveled. Free. And what I saw then, I often paint it today in my paintings. »
A national icon in Mexico, Frida Kahlo devoted her life to art from the age of twenty-one. In her numerous self-portraits, she thwarts the macho workings of a Mexican society that is hermetic to the evolution of women's condition. Imprisoned in a plaster corset following a serious accident, Frida Kahlo remains a symbol of beauty in Mexico, where she never ceases to defend women's rights with ardor and provocation.
