At the age of 29, on November 6, 2018, politician Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez became the youngest female representative ever elected to the U.S. Congress. Born in the Bronx, the Democratic Congresswoman, who supported candidate Bernie Sanders in the primaries, has been noted for her public speaking skills and passionate calls to combat social and racial inequality and for her mobilization in support of the Green New Deal.
